Yard Mockery

So I played dress-up in the yard all morning and man was it fun.
I started mocking up exactly what the previous owner had collected just to see the original vision.

Damn! It's kind of a prairie boy's version of a '90's Cholo train wreck. So that's just not gonna cut it. The bike when on a crash diet and suddenly we're getting closer.

Then I just had to try the raked triples out for fun. Oh crap...now I'm in love with that stance. I have to keep reminding myself this is gonna be a LONG process, but I'm getting pretty stoked.

Pommie Performance

Well it handles far better than I expected. Quite good actually despite the heavy front end. That extra big sprocket in the back makes a bIG difference in Jam fo sho. Gonna need one of those for Dale this year!! Brakes well, engine runs strong. Small flat spot just off idle until it warms up. Not sure if it's just running lean or if I'll need to change the pilot jets to something bigger, but all in all...really sweet. I think I'll get some plates for it and ride it while it's listed cuz it's gonna be a super fun little machine.

Bike in the trunk of a car

Yes that is an extension cord used as a rope. Classy

Who needs a reall press?

Used a giant C clamp as a press for my swing arm bushings lastnight. Had to start them with a Hammer. I am pretty sure that I just got really lucky and would probably not try that again cause one got a bit stuck. Worked out in the end. So I am one step closer to getting at that engine now.

Kick out the Jams

So after a few posts on the wWInterweb's ForuMs I think we may have identified the origin of the rigid frame I picked up with the fxwg engine. Looks like it's a mid-'70's Jammer frame which I've been told may have been made in the same factory as the Paughco/D&D frames of the same era. Anybody have more info on Jammer frames? I'd love to know a little history.

I know Pete and Joel are twisting in their seats at the thought of me owning a hog over that english iron, but the call of the big twin was too much to resist.

Inspired to get off my ass!

So I saw all the fantastic bikes at the show last weekend and it got me all excited. I spent a bit of money I don't have and I've started to make some progress on my 650.

I got the Swing arm off and the new "performance enhancing" brass bushings came in today. Now I know most of you are not too fond of swing arms cause you always seem to cut them off. But I'm putting mine back on! Cheers to ninjas house of chop for hanging on to that straight one so I could replace the bent one.
I know it is a bit of a stretch for me but even though there is only 1 year before the next show I am hoping I can get it all done up and join you guys next year.

Steel wheels vs Packaged plastic

I would never have put my money on the Malibu. But wow. Still. Sacrifice all safety for style. I'll take the '59 thanks.

Monstor Cycle-Man-I-A bitch Post

Well it was a great weekend of bike talk, beer, psychobilly, roller derby bouts and bullshit. Here's a few highlights.
Will rolled down from little La with a crew to take ownership of one Will Power. Cool cat. Good to meet you dude, got me thinkin about a Northern trek on Dale this summer.

Another satisfied HamBone customer.

Met the Cycle Boys from Brandon Manitoba. Super cool cats, bikes, parts and paint. Keep an eye out for these guys.

This whole tank was done with a sharpie and then cleared. looked amazing.

Local Lowbrow'rs the Bastards were out in usual style and had a few new bikes and bits to show off.
Two highlights for me were Rich's Evo sporting a killer new paint and seat combo...

and Jessop's (Loco Bastardo of 50's Haze) Killer Pan/Shovel. In my mind, best in show. Can't wait to roll around town next to that.

The best part of Cyclemania is always shooting the shit and thanks to the MC living room display this year we had plenty of opportunity for that.

Got to chat with a guy from Sweden who used to race sidecar dirt trackers and ran XS650 engines that he claims he had bore and stroked to 950cc. Awesome. Shot the shit for a while with "Moose" outta North Battleford and got a chance to meet Robin and his Dad from 50's Haze.

Great to meet you all and feel free to give us a shout any time yer in town. In the end I guess the judges appreciated the informal gathering place that was our display, enough to award HamBone and me the award for Best Group Display. We were proud to say that every beer can in the display was drunk in the display. No outside recycling was transported in.
