...in the morning and plow. Starting a small farming operation this year so I thought we could use some mule brand farming equipment. Got this old Craftsman Tiller off kijiji and had it turning dirt again the next day. Tilly is now preparing our fertile ground for some heritage seeds.
rear tine!! an excellent choice, sir!
ReplyDeletei'm sure even vintage rear tine are better than the more common forward rotor type.
Forward tine actually, but she digs like a ground hog none the less.
ReplyDeleteoohh yeah! right. the motor is just situated quite far forward, and beer confused my eyes. I suspect the later units had the motor sitting more over top of the tines to create a more modern look and improve handling. Characteristics that would move it out of the hardware store, but decrease overall performance. the motor sitting way out front like on your unit, might make steering a little "heavy", but yeah, dig like a damn i bet. Hooray for optimal muleage!!
ReplyDeleteYeah I think the modern ones have the motor up top and may even be direct drive as opposed to chain or belt driven. I've rented new ones for the last few summers and this thing is far superior in function and style. Stoked on my Tilly machine. Geeking out on farm choppers.
