The old DT250

So remember how I sold the DT250 to Chuck and Dirk for them to part out? Yeah well, Chuck decided to do something rad with his half...

Wintery Welcome to Spring

Beautiful weather up at the lake this Easter weekend. Busted the DT250 out of it's winter wrapper beside the cabin. Fired up on the third kick. Damn I love that. So we gave her a proper flogging in the melting snow and ice.

Vintage 2 Stroke - check
White Sorels - check
Canadian Tuxedo - check
Bearded Weirdo - check
Northern Lake Covered in Snow and Ice - check
"Hold my beer, watch this!"

And here's your winter driving tip #472, stay off the front brake on ice and snow.

Thanksgiving Mule Flogging

Gave the Dirty DT a good healthy flogging this long weekend. Got her all "winterized" with a thick coat of mud and muck.

Even Carole got the bug this weekend. Had her riding up and down the resort all afternoon.

Dig that DT

Got out to the lake for a night. Pulled out the DT to find someones lunch still sitting on the triple trees.

Did a little work on the front end...

And then flogged that mule through the bush for like an hour. Sooo fun.

DT250 *For Sale*

I know the Mule has become a bit of a centre for shopping Barbie lately, but everyone's trying to put some scratch together for new projects so here's another one on the block...

Good running 1977 Yamaha DT 250 2 stroke. Lots of power. Monoshock rear suspension. Good brakes, good compression, starts first kick, freshly cleaned carb and tank, new rattle can paint this year. New front tire and near-new rear tire. Could use to have the fork seals replaced. Great bike for the lake. Asking $690

Lineup's continued

Line'n up my summer fun today too.

His and hers dirt mules. Both fired and smokin'. Love 2-strokes. Now primed with opTimal Muleage. DT got new rubber front and back donated by the Kawa 125 I sacrifice over winter.

Pulled the styro out of the shed window today and let POMmie drink in a little Vitamin D.

Spring sprung my 250 today

Dug the DT out today and gave the new tank I got and the plastics a quick spray. Anybody wanna snow cone? Beautiful sun beating down.

UPDATE: Yikes. A little too clean. Needs some decals and mud.

Another Halloween Miracle

They're gonna hafta start calling me Dr. Lazarus. I've brought yet another one back from the dead. New coil did just the trick. Now I need a tank. A little more work to achieve optimal muleage, but it's nice to have it whippin' donuts in the snow one bowl of 2 stroke mixture at a time.

pity

Anybody know if this carb is salvageable? I pulled it off the DT250 and got the slide unseized with some heat, but the air intake side was pretty corroded and having blasted the gunk away with carb cleaner I've uncovered this...

Gifts from Sr.

When I arrived home from the Show & Shine today I found Sr. and his Mrs. outside my place. Sr. came by to drop off the Lil Desert Rose fork tubes that he'd straightened and he had another surprise for me as well. What's that? Did you say a YZ250? Well if you did it shows you've been paying close attention to the blog lately, but you would be wrong. No, in fact Sr. had just picked up two vintage bikes (one whole and a roller) from a gent in town for a cool case of beer. Sr. thought the '77 DT250 (the whole one of the pair) would make a better project for me than the YZ250 with the busted tranny and kindly dropped the bike off with an open offer to exchange it for/or in addition to, the YZ still sitting at the farm. Still following? Not sure why. But, here's the first pic. Stay tuned for developments. Thanks Sr. Damn it really is impossible to say no to a free bike.
