so i was driving home from work the other day and i noticed a dirt bike in the service road ditch.
that night went back a snatched it up with the shop truck. its a really strange bike, 1974 bombardier. no other id marks i think it is a 125cc. everything is backwards on the bike, right hand chain drive, the carb placement, the kick starter on the left side, and the shifter comes from the same shaft as the kickstarter. the frame is really cool the oil tank doubles as the back bone and all the welds are REALLY nicely tig welded (thats how us Canadians do it). the motor is a rotrax and it was made in austrailia. electrical stuff made in Germany. kinda funny how it all ended up in a ditch outside saskatoon sk. i was going to just take the rims and tires and the front end off and toss the rest but i am going to try and sell it for $100. the money will go toward getting my bike powder coated.
I sir will pay you $100 for that bike. Mostly because of the pictures and story that accompany it. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteBack in the eighties Can-Am had a real good racing reputation. (Probably the bigger bikes though). I have also found that they are similar to Fieros as they seem to have a thing for fire. (and I'm not referring to ninja's affinity for riding into the fire)
ReplyDeleteRiding into fires is reserved for YZ250's only...Oh and only on one's wedding day.
ReplyDeleteSooo..... It was the bike you found in the ditch or the *ugh* ford taurus....
ReplyDeleteOk. have to admit i owned a much older uglier one than the one depicted. Yers prolly has the v6 too, eh? Nice motor. Once I test drove a 1980 firebird esprit with the smallblock 400. It was fun to drive. Then we drove home in grandpas sable. it had just as much power. I was so discusted i never bought the firebird. well, that and my wife said no.
Did ride a 250 of similar vintage when i was 13, it was pritty narly. I'll check with sr. if any of the parts would help fix our 250. I may have to bust out the Sastard Jedi Tights, bitchslap 10_ninja, and snag the sale.
haha ya.. the tarus was a gift from my wife. but whatevs come summer i'll be cool.
