Scientifically rusted

This one's from Sastard Sr. via the old curmudgeons at CVMG.

Machinist's Workshop magazine tested penetrants for break out torque on rusted nuts with significant results!

They arranged a subjective test of all the popular penetrants with the
control being the torque required to remove the nut from a
"scientifically rusted" environment (obviously a BIG nut!).

Penetrating oil ...... Average torque

None ....................... 516 ft lbs

WD-40 ................... 238 ft lbs

PB Blaster .............. 214 ft lbs

Liquid Wrench ..... 127 ft lbs

Kano Kroil ............. 106 ft lbs

ATF-Acetone mix....53 ft lbs

The ATF-Acetone mix was a "home brew" mix of 50 - 50 automatic
transmission fluid and acetone. Note the "home brew" was better than any
commercial product in this one particular test. Our local machinist group mixed up a batch and we all now use it with equally good results.

Du Keeps and me started the do-whatcha-want weekend a few years back and it's been awesome every time. This year we're a little late (in fact its 2013 now), but...a few bearded bastards will head to the woods this weekend never-the-less to enjoy whatever in the moment experience comes our way. Can't wait.

How to insta-mule your bagger

This is how we get bikes.
Step 1: some douche blings out his bike with thousands in catalogue parts.
Step 2: douche trailers his bike to a generic watered down bike week where he has never riden before.
Step 3: same dude tries to prove he can do the same shit on his thousand pound bagger as the sport bike in front of him and....



Step 4: a mule is born.

I'm a framer

Made good progress on mr. Fords cb 750 frame tonight. Gonna be hella ridged. Lucas is planing to put a hod rod 913 cb 750 in her, this bike is going to be a sleeper. He is looking for a springer so if any one has a line on one let me Know. 34 degree rake, 8" stretch over all, 4 up 4 out. Should be a great combo.
