Bravo down, bravo up!

Well the rewind stripped out... again fixed that and then i was barely getting 40 kph.

found that the throttle cable was stripped.  So I pulled the carb and used a vice to pinch the bracket that the cable screws into tapped the hole and 

 I've got full throttle again:)  that is a whopping 60 kph flat out..... should make the run around nut point a little quicker next time i go!!

And it sure is nice to have a little elbow room when your wrenchin on somethin, Though it would be nice if I were aloud to play with all the toys in there!!

Slight mod to make er' fit

 My Dremel came in handy to make the new ignition switch fit. It was slightly bigger than the original.

 It isn't that pretty but it fits and the ugly bits get covered up when it is installed. I couldn't let that plate go though it is pretty cool and just happened to match the paint a little too well. 

 I also cleaned filed sanded reshaped and painted the original steering wheel because, well $$$ it was cheaper but it has turned out alright just need a centre piece. The lights are wired in and the seats are next.

It is starting to come together but it seems to be that 20% work 80% time deal right now.

Boat Mock

The Throttle quadrant is put to gether but not reinstalled and the steering is half installed new cables and such. The engine is back on the boat but not wired in yet,

 

it got late and I wasn't real sure where to continue so I figured I'd see how it's gonna look.

From Swamp Donkey to Water Mule

 So I did a few interior patches and got the inside painted nice a few weeks back

 The next weekend I got a primer coat on.

 Finally decided on a colour and although I wasn't going with the metal flake some assholes put a bug in my ear and I ended up spending way too much on what has turned out to be the proper metal flake paint.

 It is a full on ameture job but is looking pretty sweet.

 Polished some bits and put them on last weekend.

I am over the hump on this one just some seats to do up get the engine back on and a steering wheel and it'll be ready.... I am thinking I will be done the day the last lake in SK finally freezes over completely. But at least I will free up the garage to get started on the next one on the list.  Next summer is going to be sweet living on the lake!

Chewin away

Hey guys lookin forward to seeing what the Hate machine shows us from born free. I figured it would be appropriate to get some of my random shit in before that happens. You guys may recall a previous post outlining all the random projects I've collected. I definitely bit off more than I can chew Since I have been making it back to the Keno Moto shop more often this summer I'm actually making progress. Shane's 650 is back together now and the last time I was down I picked up the next project on the list. After some confusion around how to register a trailer from the early 60's that hasn't been in the system for 17 years I got a plate and went out to the farm to pick up the Comet Traveler.

I removed the three other plates from the trailer and put the shiny new one on. About 10 k out of the city it curled up in the wind and then blew off. So this project is off to a great start!! I still have high hopes cause I live across the street from the damn lake!

Also wanted to show you guys the mules I get to drive around in up here.

 I had an issue with rotating this one but I took it in the long abandoned Candu High of Uranium City thought it was clever. If your ever there I highly recommend a tour eerie and really should be used for the set of a Stephen King movie

It's alive! Unfortunately I had some battery issues, it's only 5 years old & wouldn't take a charge, go figure.

And my ride left town an hour after this was taken so I won't get to test out that new swing arm till next weekend. But it sure sounds nice!

Clutch

While you guys were at Cyclemania I managed to get some more work done on the 650

Clutch is back together, Airboxes back on, maybe next weekend I will actually be able to ride it again!!

Old Balls

Finally got  my clutch bearing. Looks like it will definitely be a better bearing.

Unfortunately my memory is going because when this part finally became availiable again I forgot to order the bendix gear which is the whole reason I took the clutch off.  So much for saving on shipping and so much for getting the clutch back together this weekend.  Maybe next time I get to saskatoon...  balls

Gettin 'er done

Got the new seat pan made up

 And found out that northern bush welding is almost identical to welding on the farm

When the seat cover gets hear from some guy in La Ronge I will be taking it out on some trails!!!

Bravo progress

So the seat....

needs a little work.

Started with some new sliders for the track and rebuilding the rewind

Easier to do with the engine removed

 Also had to get at the busted engine mount

Then we cleaned the carb

which led us to remove whatever the gas had turned into over the past years

 turns out that one of the jets is so clogged up we just grabbed another one.

 After a bit of problems with some wiring it is back together and running great!

All that is left is to get a kill switch, redo the seat.... and oh yea weld the cracks in the frame.

That's some optimal muleage!

Polaris Rescue

Went For a ride yesterday and it was a lot of fun until the sled I was on started making a grinding noise and then stopped going. Something in the chain drive came apart. So we went back and got a Bravo with a sled to rescue it.

And of course we naturally stopped for a beer on the way back

Keno's been working up north flyin' snow geese and dropping fuel, pepsi, and ripple chips on every ice flow north of La Ronge for a while now. He's been buggin' me to lend him the Murder Van so he can transport an uber mule of a sled up there so he has something to putt around on until spring. But I'm pretty sure the Murder Van's not quite ready for the abuse that a northern trek would put on'er and I can't afford to not have it running in it's optimal Muleage state. However, today Davey and I sprung the Yammy Bravo Mule from the ground so it can make a mystical journey up north later this week.

First we borrowed the ever faithful Elmer, Keno's community Silverado and head out to the valley where Bravo Mule lays baked in the sun and dirt. But of course Keno hooks us up with an empty truck, so first stop is the 7-11 for gas and ...welll... toquitos of course.


We get out to the farm ok and try starting the Bravo Mule, but it's not happening. I mean even if this thing does make it up north I can't see it getting him too far. It's enough to make even Lee a little nervous. Optimal muleage is one thing, but...

So we hoist it into the back, throw a chain around the skis and head back to town.


Feeling pretty good about the whole thing and thinking we'd made good time, we figure this means Keno owes us a frosty beverage.

So after all that, I think a slow and condescending clap is in order...Bra...vo!

Pop'n Clutches

Popped in to Kenos last night while on a Murder Mule test drive. Held his clutch steady while he did the old manual impact on it. Dude almost had that thing back together and now he's goin in the other side.

Keno says its snowin up North. Won't be long before its here. Building season is around the corner.

Kill Dozer Ken

Keno is working up up North flyin', loading, and unloading float planes this summer. Today he sent me a shot of him haulin' ass on a bull dozer that he drove from the dump to town at a lightning 2km/per hr. Lookin forward to having you back home in the fall buddy.
