God loves a Socialist

I love the province I live in. What's more, is I love building choppers here. I have boxes of parts, an aftermarket uncertified frame from the '70's and an engine with a bill of sale (no title) that says it was purchased from Alberta Salvage where, if still located in Alberta, would require a new VIN number to be stamped after a safety inspection. But here in the land of easy chopper registration it's all good. Walk in with my sketchy documents to any SGI accredited insurance broker and Bob's your Uncle. You walk out with plates and insurance. God Bless what's left of our Saskatchewan Socialist Society.

So with the temperature reaching into the plus side of zero today I was tempted into trying to fire up the Shadow (my daily driver). Having snuck it into my wife's studio for the winter I slacked off on the routine battery maintenance and today, although sitting at a balmy 10 degrees in the studio, it bit me in the ass. Couldn't wake the sleepy bear.

Gettin 'er done

Got the new seat pan made up

 And found out that northern bush welding is almost identical to welding on the farm

When the seat cover gets hear from some guy in La Ronge I will be taking it out on some trails!!!

Road trip

Heading to Creston early tomorrow to check out the new shop and get hired at a local fab shop. Be back Sunday.

Bravo progress

So the seat....

needs a little work.

Started with some new sliders for the track and rebuilding the rewind

Easier to do with the engine removed

 Also had to get at the busted engine mount

Then we cleaned the carb

which led us to remove whatever the gas had turned into over the past years

 turns out that one of the jets is so clogged up we just grabbed another one.

 After a bit of problems with some wiring it is back together and running great!

All that is left is to get a kill switch, redo the seat.... and oh yea weld the cracks in the frame.

That's some optimal muleage!
