Play that special Tune
So my last afternoon-nap-time escape to the shed was had this afternoon. Got the shovel out for a test run for the first time (in the rain) after a few fixes (brakes, exhaust leak). Then I brought'er back in for a re-jet. Up'ed the intermediate from a 28 to a 33 and it's running wayyyy smoother under 3000 now, but the main is off as a result. Need to buy more jets. Slowwwly it's tuning up. Hoping to have it tweeked and tested so I can take it on the MCC run in June.
21 winks
21 weeks ago I got an opportunity to take a leave from the daily grind in preparation for the coming of our second child. For nearly five months I've had the luxury to wake up every morning and do nothing, but engage with my family (and occasionally, fuck around with choppers ;). Anyone out there who's got little people at home knows, it can't be matched. Tomorrow I'm back at work and am obviously bracing for the transition. Looking forward to getting back at the organized chaos called work, but also feeling like 21 weeks can go by in a wink. Take time for the peeps that you call home. Not even motorcycles mean shit next to them.

Call me
Getting a Shovel dialed in.
Finally getting things set right on the shovel. Scary shit for a sissy bar trembling with anticipation, but a little throttle scares her stiff.

Loco and his temp set-up Pan-Shov
I've been fortunate to get to know Brian, over the last year especially, and am calling on his knowledge more often than I'm sure he cares to remember.

Someone ought to get this. The guy is looking for "interesting trades" so unearth something from the farm yard and give this cat a call.

Finally got the bikes out this year
Put 29 km on Shane's 650 this weekend and only this many miles on the 919.
Had to get a pic of that, I took the back road into Waskisue to ward off the inevitable prairie square tire.
Super stoked to be back on the bike after no access last summer
Where's Nick?
Finally got the call from Redline to say my new badlander seat was in for the ghetto glide. Got it home only to find it was the wrong one. This ones for the road king and is too short leaving these cables showing on my tank. Dumbasses. I never had many dealings with Redline when Nick owned it, but I feel like there was a bit more quality control. I could be wrong. Anyway now I gotta wait for another 10-14 days for the right one.
Dig that DT
Got out to the lake for a night. Pulled out the DT to find someones lunch still sitting on the triple trees.
Did a little work on the front end...
And then flogged that mule through the bush for like an hour. Sooo fun.

Beat
Shaking it
Keno Came by today to collect a long ago promised cafe helmet. I told Ken when he got his 650 engine rebuilt he could ride over and get it and today was the day. I had just buttoned up the shovel again after messing with the timing so we went for a good haul. I probably don't have to say it, but the XS ran better than the H-D for sure. I popped and farted along and then at the top of the University bridge my clutch started to slip and the bike started moving forward into oncoming traffic. Pulled off and Keno had to run to my shed for some tools cuz I'm too stoopid to have put together a tool wrap yet. anyway. there it is.

Larry's Bike *SOLD*
My across the alley neighbor, Larry, has this minty 1983 Honda VT750C (similar to the one pictured) for sale and I told him I'd spread the word. He's spent the last week tuning and tweeking it into perfection. Its had about 100km a year put on it for the five years I've been living behind him so I imagine it's got low mileage and I know it's been loved. Anyway if you're looking for a minty '80's reliability machine this ones the bomb. Give me a shout and I'll get you in touch with him. He's hoping to get about $2500 for it.
Bleckn fre kn
So there's two sizes of ODs for the bushing that goes on the main shaft
for the kicker starter gear in a 4 speed ratchet top. Who knew. Geez.
When will I learn to cross check parts catalogues. Sheesh.

Barf
No no, not Lee for scoring a cheap as chips tight as a sphincter genny. I'm spewing over the amount of bolt on foolishness on my Glide. After adding up all the Willie G. Skull action on my ride I decided to add up all the other H-D add ons that grace or graced the Ghetto Glide. We're talking blacked out components, chrome this and that etc. Looks like some dork payed over $2700 for bolt on custom glory. That's not including the after market pipes, passenger pegs, highway pegs, stage one kit, and a few other goodies that are not H-D brand. This also does not include the $72hr shop fee that Redline would charge to put these golden nuggets of shit onto the bike. Now I ask you. We're probably looking at close to $5000 worth of time and shit that didn't make your bike ride any better, faster, or even make it one of a kind, because I can find all this stuff on the harley site and buy it, soooooo....????? and that's when I puked. Because Lee just bought a complete '66 Shovelhead for less than this guy (and man others like him) spent on blinging out his Glide.
I know I know. I shouldn't judge. Honestly it's just not my style. So I'm gonna put all the Willie G. Skull stuff up for sale on Kijiji as soon as I find suitable, more tasteful, replacements. So if you know anyone looking to skull out a bagger send them my way. I promise not to laugh as I take their money.
First kick "Fat Cat"
Unskull
Been removing skulls from the glide. Kip and me counted 21 offensive skulled out decorations. I'm down to 7, but they're big ones. Lookin to lose the rest ASAP. I added up all the Willie G accessories on this glide and it looks like some dweeb payed over $625 plus tax for the Skulled out Glide look. wow.
Cole has my new fender for paint and I got a shorty windshield and a bad lander seat on the way. Gonna be a clean ride soon.
