tig welding and Frame Fabbing

I an very happy with the tig machine i got off of ebay. easy to use and does nice welds. still setting up my frame jig for xs frames but its getting close. The frame in the pic is not going to have so much stretch as it does right now. should work out to be a 4" stretch Soon HamBone Kustoms will be offering full Kustoms frames and and hardtail sections for Yamaha xs 650's. so put you order in Now!

The Summer of Cable repairs.

So my sisters was in town and wanted to get her scooter fired up, she had no luck starting it and found that the rear brake wasn't working. So I charged up the battery and got it going, took it for a few blasts around town, even though I am 50lbs over the max weight for it. She wants it working for when she comes to town next so I took a look at the brake. The cable is seized. Not sure why this year I have so much trouble with cables but I am going to lube every cable on every vehicle I own to prevent this pain in my ass! Good thing is I finally got the shop organized so will probably have some MG posts for you soon!

7 years ago when I picked up this '76 XL175 with 2300mi, it had carb issues. Everything else is perfect. I didn't know too much back then so took it to a misc bike mechanic type shop. Charged me a bunch of $$$ and it still ran like crap. Took it to another shop, same thing. Took it to a buddy, who spent way to much time on it but at least only charged me for results. (Didn't cost very much). By then I had a pretty good understanding of how carbs should work and this being a SUPER simple carb, was getting pretty pissed off I couldn't get it going right. At 3/4 throttle it flooded itself. I had cleaned and changed the jets repeatedly. Everything looked PERFECT! The only thing I hadn't replaced was the slide needle. The guy at Honda strongly hints that I'm an idiot and that's not the problem, but it doesn't matter because the part is discontinued anyway. The guy from Custom Cycle searches the continent for one and there ain't none to be found in nobody's drawers, anywhere. Rec Supply...well don't even go there. Finally find Graham in Aberdeen of all fucking places! "Sure I got one". Bring it home and it is 1/2" longer than the one I have. Oh well, give it a try I guess. Works Fucking Perfectly!!! MoFo way back at the beginning changed it for some damn mini bike needle or something! At 3/4 throttle there was no needle left in the slide to reduce the flow of gas. So it was getting full fuel but the slide hadn't gone up enough to let in full air! Duh! I almost sold that bike 10 times but then "I'll just try one more thing and if doesn't work..." Well it works all you narrow minded, inside the box, $70/hr mechanics! I know that was a long story about not much, but I just can't friggin believe it! Time to go play in the mud.

Bike Trip

Not hearing enough buzz about the Flin Flon bike trip this summer. (See earlier post by Ninja, "Flin Flon in August") It will be some sad buggers who don't make it on this ride! Leave Fri, home Sun. I would suspect yer wives will be happy to get rid of you for a bit by then. Also, I'm now down to Aug 27-29 as the only free weekend. Can we book it?

Coachman's Car Show Pike Lake

Had a successful trip to Pike Lake today with Dale and Dagger for the Coachman's Car Show. Pretty pleased with how Dale performed on the open road. Makes me wish I was riding all the way to Born Free.

Going to California..

Heading to Cali in less than a week. Soo StOkED! Been dreamin' of California since I was 10. Gonna check out a few legendary Skatespots in Huntington Beach, P-O-P (Pacific Ocean Park Pier), Venice Beach and then to add the sprinkles to the cherries I'll check out Born Free II. Can't Wait!!
